I am a filmmaker who produced a film about a survivor of child abuse. The writer/director works at a facility that takes care of children who have been physically and mentally abused. When he brought me the script, I cried. I was never in that situation, but my heart grieves for those who have – which is why it was so important to me to make sure that this film got made. We won nearly a dozen “Best Feature” awards last year on the festival circuit and, more importantly, have been able to bring a voice to an extremely important subject. I don’t mean for this to be a big ad for the film, but I want people who have gone through this to know that others are out there trying to create awareness and action towards doing something.
