Another Reminder – To Reduce Suicide Risk for LGBTQ folks Just Accept Who They Are

Earlier this year, I wrote about an interview where someone from the Trevor Project mentioned how much lower the suicide risk is for youth when someone, anyone, in their life just accepts them.

Today, I want to share another bit of news involving gay and bisexual men and suicide:

Gay, bisexual men have a lower suicide risk in more tolerant countries

Gay and bisexual men who move from a country with high stigma toward people to one more accepting of LGBTQ rights experience a significantly lower risk of suicide and depression, according to research published by the American Psychological Association.

So again, we see that simply accepting people for who they are has a pretty large impact on the risk of losing them to suicide. Why would we do anything else, for anyone?
