{"id":11225,"date":"2021-11-23T11:41:26","date_gmt":"2021-11-23T19:41:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.childabusesurvivor.net\/reviews\/?p=11225"},"modified":"2021-11-23T11:29:25","modified_gmt":"2021-11-23T19:29:25","slug":"another-reminder-to-reduce-suicide-risk-for-lgbtq-folks-just-accept-who-they-are","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.childabusesurvivor.net\/reviews\/2021\/11\/23\/another-reminder-to-reduce-suicide-risk-for-lgbtq-folks-just-accept-who-they-are\/","title":{"rendered":"Another Reminder &#8211; To Reduce Suicide Risk for LGBTQ folks Just Accept Who They Are"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this year, I <a href=\"https:\/\/www.childabusesurvivor.net\/wordpress\/2021\/06\/14\/want-to-lower-lgbtq-youth-suicide-risks-just-accept-them\/\">wrote<\/a> about an interview where someone from the Trevor Project mentioned how much lower the suicide risk is for LGBTQ youth when someone, anyone, in their life just accepts them.<\/p>\n<p>Today, I want to share another bit of news involving gay and bisexual men and suicide:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.apa.org\/news\/press\/releases\/2021\/11\/gay-men-lower-suicide\">Gay, bisexual men have a lower suicide risk in more tolerant countries<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Gay and bisexual men who move from a country with high stigma toward LGBTQ people to one more accepting of LGBTQ rights experience a significantly lower risk of suicide and depression, according to research published by the American Psychological Association.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So again, we see that simply accepting people for who they are has a pretty large impact on the risk of losing them to suicide.
