This seems backward, but it all makes sense if you look at it from Gov. Abbott&#8217;s point of view:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In a statement to The Texas Tribune, a spokesperson for Abbott said the governor said he cares deeply for the rights of parents, as well as the safety of children.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It seems like he, and his party, are much more concerned with the rights of parents than they are with the safety of children. In this scenario, children only have the right to learn about abuse and violence if their parents allow it.
