As is the case with many difficult topics, talking about it openly, honestly, and with patience and kindness can reduce the risk,&#8221; says Chedd. &#8220;It signals to your child that it is okay to talk about this topic (or any other) and that they can come to you for help, no matter how big a problem they are facing.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We have said often that the best prevention we can offer is to simply keep people connected to those around them.
