Dr. van der Kolk takes it on from a broader perspective, including all the topics the current administration has decided we shouldn&#8217;t research.<\/p>\n<p>This is also something I agree with:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Yes, the costs of large-scale programs to address these core components that constitute a civilized society will be high, and improving living conditions, enhancing access to quality education and healthcare, and implementing targeted social support programs to break the cycle of poverty and thereby promote better health outcomes for future generations, is an immense challenge.<sup>15<\/sup>\u00a0But if we are to ensure a higher quality of life for all Americans than we currently enjoy, we have no choice but to address\u00a0<em>precisely<\/em>\u00a0the subjects listed in the index of forbidden topics such as: \u201cbiases,\u201d \u201cat risk,\u201d \u201cdiversity,\u201d \u201cdiscrimination,\u201d \u201cinequalities,\u201d \u201c injustice,\u201d \u201cmulticultural,\u201d \u201c socioeconomic,\u201d \u201cprejudice\u201d and \u201ctrauma.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/traumaresearchfoundation.org\/how-to-really-make-america-great-by-confronting-the-forbidden-issues\/\">https:\/\/traumaresearchfoundation.org\/how-to-really-make-america-great-by-confronting-the-forbidden-issues\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Again, I&#8217;ll say it. You can&#8217;t solve the problems that exist and create risks for traumatized children when you don&#8217;t acknowledge the trauma.
