And sometimes, instead of sitting with that discomfort, we create distance.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/how-to-help-someone-going-through-a-hard-time-and-what-not-to-say_l_6ab16068e4b08976697a67fb\">https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/how-to-help-someone-going-through-a-hard-time-and-what-not-to-say_l_6ab16068e4b08976697a67fb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It doesn&#8217;t have to be that way, though. We can accept that we can&#8217;t change the situation and remind someone that they&#8217;re not alone.<\/p>\n<p>That can look like acts of kindness, invites to silly things like watching a TV show, or sharing memes you thought they&#8217;d like, even if they don&#8217;t always respond.
