Yet many men remain silent for decades before talking about the abuse, and even fewer seek professional help. This research project will help us understand why male survivors tend to stay away from therapy and counseling, and will help the psychology community design more appropriate and effective ways to reach out and help.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>Who<\/strong><strong>:\u00a0<\/strong>Seeking men between the ages of 25-75 , who experienced sexual abuse in childhood, who feel that the abuse has had some negative impact on their lives, and who have never (or only recently) sought therapy or counseling specifically focusing on the abuse, to participate in interviews about the experience of seeking help.\u00a0<strong>You will not be asked to talk about the details of the abuse and your identity will be held in the strictest confidence.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>If you&#8217;re interested in being part of the study, you can get more information from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bodymindpsych.com\/male-survivor-research-announcement.html\">announcement page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"syndication-links\"><\/div><span class=\"kt-load-after-post\"><\/span>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chris Tickner, a licensed psychotherapist in California, is conducting a research project to look into some of the reasons why male survivors of sexual abuse do not seek help.
