For example, I really didn&#8217;t understand the difference between &#8220;feeling down&#8221;, which happens to everyone, and true depression, which for me included a complete lack of desire to do anything to take care of myself. I wasn&#8217;t worth it. I had managed to live with those feelings for so long that I thought they were normal, and couldn&#8217;t really understand how others could just continue going on with those feelings.
