While as a child dissociation was a self-protective method of coping with stressful\u00a0situations in my adult years it has become self-destructive and intrusive. Roll on therapy.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Erin shares her own story of how her dissociation is harming her in adult life. I’ve heard many similar stories, and lived my own as well. The types of dissociation and exact ways it plays out are different, in my case there were no alters, for example, but lots of lost time, but the reality of it is the same. That ability to not be present probably saved us as children. It is not a good way to go through adulthood.
