I very much agree with Matthew here, regardless of how awkward the conversation may be, you need the people around you to know what is happening.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>While somewhat understandable (who really wants to acknowledge depression\u2019s vice-grip?), silence is deadly. It isolates, fueling additional avoidance strategies. You hope \u2014 even beseeching to a merciful God\u2013 for a reprieve from the all-consuming thoughts and feelings. The sad irony: By seeking an escape, you further confine yourself, shackling yourself to an invisible, unbearable tormentor.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20170816003506\/https:\/\/psychcentral.com\/blog\/archives\/2017\/08\/15\/speak-the-evil\/\">https:\/\/psychcentral.com\/blog\/archives\/2017\/08\/15\/speak-the-evil\/<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"syndication-links\"><\/div><span class=\"kt-load-after-post\"><\/span>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Like evil, mental health issues only get stronger in silence.
