There is a reason for this, but you may not like it.
Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States, and it’s the on the rise, but we have no idea why.
As the article goes on to explain, we spend far more on research for diseases that kill far fewer people than the number that die by suicide. Maybe we just don’t really care, maybe there’s a stigma around it that makes us want to just look the other way, instead of doing the hard work to figure out why, and how to fix it.
