Despite the lack of enough evidence to bring formal charges, I am glad Kyle is talking about what happened. There are many, many, children, male and female, who are abused by older kids, and those stories are rarely ever told. It simply adds to the shame felt by victims when we don’t take these instances as seriously as we do victims of adult abusers, but the damage done to these kids is just as bad.
I’m one of them. I wasn’t sexually abused by an adult, but by an older relative. I know of many others who were as well, but those stories don’t quite grab the headlines the way that victims of adults do, so you don’t hear about us as often.
