A note

Just a note, something that has long bothered me, and has recently come to my attention again. Being in therapy, or suffering from depression, or being a survivor of child abuse, does not give you an excuse to be completely self-absorbed and act like an ass.

That is all.. 🙂

  • What you don’t see

Someone recently sent me an email and talked about how “brave” I was to have this site out here, and how strong I must be to own what happened to me the way I do on here. My response, other than being very humbled and honored, was to tell this person that it’s not as…

  • How Much Blame Should We Really Get for not Picking up on Grooming?

Think about it. Right now, this very second, you are reading this post because either you found the headline intriguing and clicked, or someone shared it with you and said you should read it, and you clicked. In both cases, you were persuaded by another person to do something. If you saw it on Facebook or other social media platform, there’s a Facebook algorithm watching you and trying to give you more stuff you like, to persuade you to keep coming back to Facebook, and you’re reading it on a device that you were persuaded to purchase by some other factor in your life.

Not to mention the fact that parents, teachers, or someone, somewhere, persuaded you to learn to read. You were persuaded, even manipulated, to go to school, study, become the sort of person who could get a well-enough paying job to own a piece of technology and pay for an internet connection, and all of that wound up with you, right here, right now.

You were “groomed” to do what you are doing right now. And yet, so many want to look at children, and make them responsible for knowing which persuasion is good for them and which isn’t.

It’s up over at From Tracie’s blog. She’s chosen the “hope and Joy” theme for this month, very similar to my brief post earlier this week about the importance of fun! (Which I did submit, but seems like it got lost somewhere in the submission process. Oh well, it happens, I’ll just submit it again…

  • Alone?

I spent part of the long weekend exchanging emails with a lady who felt all alone as she tried to begin the process of healing from abuse. I pointed her in the direction of some of the forums and online support groups listed on the resource page, and to the list of blogs by abuse…

  • Donation made

I’m closing up last year’s business today. I just went to Prevent Child Abuse America and donated the $35 that had been raised this year through Amazon links and CafePress referrals Thank you to everyone for making that possible. I’ve also renewed this domain for another year, so here’s to hoping this site can be…
