Oprah Winfrey Female Rape Interview, online

Oprah Winfrey’s female abusers special has yet to air. In between the two specials grouping male and female abusers separately in double episode specials, Gregg Mulligan was interviewed, as a survivor of physical abuse, rape, and being sold into child prostitution by his mother. It’s presented as a complete story in the one episode this time.

At the end the Rape Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN) receives a mention, and you can access that site here.

View the complete episode here which went online as of 9am today (16th) but as normal with hosted video outside of Youtube, we recommend that you see it as soon as possible. If the direct link doesn’t work then go straight to Oprah.com and search the main section or right hand column.

  • Is Online Therapy Dying?

Even though some companies might have gotten this all wrong, we still have the same issues we’ve had with mental health services that we’ve had for years. It’s too difficult for too many people to access. Technology can help eliminate some hurdles preventing people from getting help. That is worth doing when it’s done right. Those services can and should go away when it’s not done right. The fact that many are indicates that chasing money is not the way.

That shouldn’t ever be the way. It doesn’t mean online therapy itself is a bad idea, though. We must be careful to get it right.

“‘A lot of people don’t want to talk about it or look down at it or tend to make fun of other people for having it or engaging in it. I’m trying to break that down by showing people that, yes, I go to therapy as well and I’m still trying to work out my…

  • Sharing – Not all children realise they are being abused

The sexual abuse of children was something that happened when dudes in vans kidnapped children. No one mentioned that you could be sexually abused in your own home. If you asked me as a kid if I was being abused, I would have said no, even as every definition of that word applied to me. There was no education, no awareness programs, and no discussion about sexual abuse anywhere in the public sphere, so I didn’t know until I met someone in my early twenties who talked about being the victim of sexual abuse.
