Yes, this time of year is different from the rest of the year. Many of us are more likely to travel, spend more time with family, and have a different schedule because of the various days off. Despite that, the advice for handling challenges isn’t really that different, is it?

“Managing mental illness is a challenge, and it can be particularly difficult during the holiday season. While the struggle can feel isolating, remember that you are far from alone. Seek help from a mental professional if you need to, maintain your self-care routines and include mindfulness practices into your days as you navigate your way through the holidays.”

To me, the big thing to take away is the same thing I would tell anyone during the non-holiday season. Do what you need to do to take care of yourself first.

For those of you here in the US, have a great Thanksgiving tomorrow, however you spend it. Be sure to take a moment and find the things around you to be thankful for, and remember that I am thankful for each and every one of you.
