Link – Managing Holiday Anxiety and Depression

Yes, this time of year is different from the rest of the year. Many of us are more likely to travel, spend more time with family, and have a different schedule because of the various days off. Despite that, the advice for handling mental health challenges isn’t really that different, is it?

“Managing mental illness is a challenge, and it can be particularly difficult during the holiday season. While the struggle can feel isolating, remember that you are far from alone. Seek help from a mental professional if you need to, maintain your self-care routines and include mindfulness practices into your days as you navigate your way through the holidays.”

To me, the big thing to take away is the same thing I would tell anyone during the non-holiday season. Do what you need to do to take care of yourself first.

For those of you here in the US, have a great Thanksgiving tomorrow, however you spend it. Be sure to take a moment and find the things around you to be thankful for, and remember that I am thankful for each and every one of you.
