You might have noticed some funkiness going on here since last weekend. The site actually was taken offline as a precaution with the host having their netblock hit by a DDoS attack. Then when it came back there was a problem with CPanel that wouldn’t let me login or FTP or anything. Then everything was back except the MySQL databases that run the backend of both the blog and the forums were gone. Both have been restored from backups, almost. The forum backup was from Dec. 2. Everything from that point on has been lost. So if you registered since then, I’m sorry but you’ll have to register again. I’ll try and get some of the articles linked back that I had put up in there since, but no promises. I’ll have to see if I can find them again!
The blog database backup and the current archives gave me all the entries to the site, but some of the more recent comments had not been backed up. Again, I’m very sorry for that, and I’ll try and keep more current backups now that the holidays are over and I might actually have time to do that! 🙂
Now, where were we? Oh yeah, hope you all had a happy and safe New Year’s celebration. I rang the new year in restoring database backups while my wife, who hasn’t been sleeping well due to coughing and cold-like symptoms was fast asleep when the new year came in. One exciting couple, aren’t we?
