I know that feeling

I know the feeling Kevin talked about on his blog last night all too well. For all the guilt and depression I suffered through all the years of abuse, none of that feels as bad as disappointing a wife so worthy of my love and care.

Hang in there Kevin, the best thing about our wives is how much they see the good in us even when we don’t.

What’s objectionable? Who decides that? Does an abusive parent get to decide that no one should provide any information about abuse to their kid? Do ultra-religious parents get to decide that no one should see information about LGBTQ issues or mental health medication? Do non-religious parents get to decide that no one is allowed to read the Bible online due to violent passages?

It appears the answer to that, at least until a court steps in to strike down this law, is yes to all of that. As the EFF points out, this isn’t just a risk to the big tech platforms. Anyone with a blog, website, social media account, etc., is subject to a civil lawsuit based on a parent not agreeing with what they post.

  • Spousal Support

I was exchanging emails earlier this week with someone around the issue of trying to support a spouse who is a survivor. Obviously, being the survivor in my marriage, I’m not the expert on how to handle this, but I was able to offer some insight into typical male survivor behavior and mindsets that I…

  • In a funk

I don’t know what’s been going on the last few days. I don’t feel really good physically, but I don’t have any real “sick” symptoms. I’m easily irritated, have little patience for anything, don’t seem able to focus for very long, have lost interest in a lot of things, and just generally feel very “blah”…

The other night my wife and I watched Sleepers and then proceeded to have an interesting conversation. She made the comment at the end of the movie that it wasn’t really the happy ending you thought you were getting by the time they reviewed what happened to the characters in the future. My response to…

  • Take a break

I was reminded of something rather important today. You see, I had made plans to meet up with a friend of mine for lunch Friday, her birthday had recently passed, and I took the opportunity to offer to buy her lunch and get to spend some time catching up. Now, that’s not anything earth-shattering, but…

  2. You know, the thing about life that I notice the most is that it is a two way street.

Relationships are a give and take thing, no matter who you are or what your past represents for you.

Sometimes it is hard to be there for someone else when you can’t even be there for yourself, but if you are lucky, like I know you are…you have someone who really loves you and someone who will stay even during those times.

  3. Im waiting for my day in court I hope I can be as brave as Kevin. My wives couldn’t handle me. Now that I have healed somewhat I have tried to make amends to them for my “Toxic” behaviour. I wish all servivors the best of luck, we will need it. gardinerjr@rogers.com
