Offender Named, Shamed, gets Treatement but not Jail
We don’t need to name the offender in question as his name and picture are in the newspaper article today. There’s the usual angry reaction at no jail time for having cybersex chats with a 13 year old and downloading child abuse images and videos. As is customary for the Daily Mail, there’s no deeper examination as to why the same treatment programme wasn’t available in prison and whether Government cutbacks have led to there being better help on the outside than in jail. There’s the side issue of the jail sentence only lasting six months anyway and whether more than half of this would be served.
