“I think if we were to have a really honest and open conversation with almost anyone in our own family or social circle — whatever class of society we belong to — we would soon realise that practically everyone we know has a personal account of being sexually abused as a child.
Are some of you shaking your heads and saying, no, that’s not true?
Go on, I urge you to tell your own story to someone or even to mention the fact that it happened to you and then to see what happens as a result.
Now if so many people have been sexually abused as children, isn’t it utterly appalling that we don’t talk about it? Maybe not.
In researching this blog, I spoke to a few women who were sexually abused as children (although obviously it happens to a lot of boys too) and then told some about it — what happened next was grim to say the least. “
I’ve said it many times. Given the statistics, there’s simply no way you don’t know someone who was abused as a child. They just don’t talk about it, because talking about it is frowned upon, when it really shouldn’t be.

Yes, every survivor can heal, I truly believe that, but it won’t be overnight. We’ve lived with these secrets for many years, coming out from that will take time as well.

Yes, I was silent, until I got clean from drugs/alcohol…and a diagnosis of HIV.
Sometimes we have to get ourselves to a clear place before we can talk, but I am glad that you are not silent now.
I’m proud to say I’m a survivor and now I’m a thrive the but it took a lot of therapy and I was abused and raped from age 3 to 21
You should be proud to have survived and overcome so much!
I am and I speak out about it as much as I can looking into being a motivational speaker
