This post is about daughters who grow up without the love and support of their parents. I’d file it under emotional neglect or emotional abuse, and the ways in which it effects women into adulthood are devastating. Some, not all, of these same effects can be seen in sons who suffer from the same lack of love and support.

Of course, male or female, as Peg says at the end:

The first step of the long path to healing is recognition.

And that’s really the point. If you grew up with emotional neglect or emotional abuse, you may not even be aware of how that is impacting your adult life. If this list sounds like you, maybe you should stop to consider the possibility.
