An Idea I’m Tossing Around

One of the things I’ve long considered is finding a way to provide space for folks who want to tell their story of being a survivor, but who don’t want to go to all the trouble of creating their own site, or keeping up with a blog. It was right up there in my thoughts with creating a separate blog to keep the various reviews and recommendations, which I recently did.

The question is, how much of an interest is there in doing this sort of thing? Are you, or are people you know, interesting in contributing in this way, by sharing your story, or part of your story, on a one time basis?

Let me know if you think it has some merit and how you’d like to see it develop, and I’ll get to work on it. Also, if you’re interested in posting book reviews, or sharing other helpful resources on that Survivor News and Reviews blog, let me know and I’ll get you hooked up to post there!

Marilyn from Prevent Child Abuse was kind enough to return my call this afternoon. Turns out that the $35 level of giving is enough to make you a “member”, so that’s the minimum amount I’ll be donating over there thanks to the kind contributions of folks from my sites. That’ll also mean I’ll be subscribed…

  • My apologies

I tried to upgrade to the newest version of Movable Type last night, and even though I thought everything went ok, I discovered today that wasn’t exactly the case. So, if you tried to leave a comment and couldn’t or were one of the unfortunate ones who stopped by the site as I was trying…

OK, I had to switch hosts over at my domain so things here got a bit slack while I was dealing with all of that over there. Now that I’ve got that settled into it’s new home, I’m going to try and republish this blog over in a directory on that domain and just link…

  • Thank You

I got the first check from the CafePress store in the mail yesterday. It was for $26.30, which, when combined with the $14-15 I’ve got coming from the Amazon links at the end of the year will make a nice little donation to Prevent Child Abuse. Of note, yes I have decided to go ahead…

  • Upgrades

I upgraded the Movable Type installation to 3.11 this evening. Assuming that this posts, everything seems to be working properly. The impetus for moving was comment spam, unfortunately. I came back from our last vacation with a dozen or so comments that had been posted to the site. Normally, spam comments are gone just about…

  1. i write a lot on my blog about my childhood and it’s abuse and sadness. it’s something i continue to process through writing (after four years of intensive therapy and work in my early twenties)
lots of great information on your page here.

  2. Maggie, I think you make a good point, it’s so easy to create your own blog and writing is an ongoing process, so I don’t know how many people would want to write a one-time piece about their journey when they could have their own site!
