An Idea I’m Tossing Around

One of the things I’ve long considered is finding a way to provide space for folks who want to tell their story of being a survivor, but who don’t want to go to all the trouble of creating their own site, or keeping up with a blog. It was right up there in my thoughts with creating a separate blog to keep the various reviews and recommendations, which I recently did.

The question is, how much of an interest is there in doing this sort of thing? Are you, or are people you know, interesting in contributing in this way, by sharing your story, or part of your story, on a one time basis?

Let me know if you think it has some merit and how you’d like to see it develop, and I’ll get to work on it. Also, if you’re interested in posting book reviews, or sharing other helpful resources on that Survivor News and Reviews blog, let me know and I’ll get you hooked up to post there!

Have I mentioned lately that I am truly honored by you people? Seriously, all of the people who take the time to write meaningful comments, or send me email privately (webmaster at this domain….) absolutely make my day! This past weekend, I attended a SafeTALK workshop put together by the local chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Carnival Against Child Abuse – Irish Heritage Edition

I’ll be hosting the March edition of the Blog Carnival Against Child Abuse later this month, and given my own Irish heritage, and this being the month we celebrate the Irish with St. Patrick’s Day, I thought it would be appropriate to make the theme of this year one that speaks to the Irish part…

  • Back to normal, we hope

Turns out my hosting company upgraded the Perl version on the server, and didn’t include all the modules that are required to run Movable Type, so that’s why things were basically wacky the last few days. I just finished installing the Perl modules into the MT installation itself, so I won’t have to rely on…

  • Upgrading

I just upgraded the site to the newest version of Movable Type. I think everything is working correctly, aside from the blogroll. I’ve got that “sort of fixed”, in that it displays, but I won’t be able to add any new blogs to it until the plugin develop updates it to work with MT 4,…

  1. i write a lot on my blog about my childhood and it’s abuse and sadness. it’s something i continue to process through writing (after four years of intensive therapy and work in my early twenties)
lots of great information on your page here.

  2. Maggie, I think you make a good point, it’s so easy to create your own blog and writing is an ongoing process, so I don’t know how many people would want to write a one-time piece about their journey when they could have their own site!
