Imprisonment of Sex Offenders Discussed on The Economist

The Economist is a world-renowned weekly publication, and within the past two weeks it has discussed the imprisonment and probational monitoring of sex offenders in America (that’s the leader article from the print edition’s America section, although this was not the cover story). This met with a very strong reaction online, but you will have to hit the website to see all the comments.

The author of one of the main piece attracted further comments in the blog section. At the moment it’s free to view but since we don’t know how far back the archive goes, we recommend you read all three sections as soon as possible. Further comments in a general blogged reaction piece seem to have been removed.

  1. SEX OFFENDERS SHOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED OUT OF PRISON AFTER THE FIRST CRIME IS DONE . THEY NEVER CHANGE THEIR STRIPS AND GROW WORSE WITH EACH ATTACK.I AM WANTING TO BUILD A MEMORIAL FOR VICTIMS OF SEX ABUSE, SUCH AS WAR MEMORIALS AND JEWISH HOLICOST MEMORIALS. A PLACE WHERE ALL PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN BROKEN BY THIS TERRIBLE CRIME CAN COME AND SEE THAT THEY ARE NOT ALONE. A PLACE TO HEAL AND FIND HOPE. A FAITH BASSED, LOVING OUTREACH. A PLACE TO EDUCATE, AND FIND WAYS TO STOP SEX ABUSE. I WANT TO SET UP AN ORGANIZATION TO FIND FUNDS TO ACCOMPLISH THIS. I KNOW IT IS MUCH NEEDED AND WILL GO A LONG WAY TO HELP CURE OUR COUNTRY OF THIS CANCER. WHAT IS NEEDED NOW IS JUST SUCH A PLACE AS I DISCRIBE. SOMETHING BIG THAT SAYS IT IS PAST TIME TO GET SERIOUS ABOUT CHILD ABUSE.IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE THAT CAN UNDERSTAND THIS VISION WHO WILL JOIN WITH ME TO CREATE A MEMORIAL TO ALL THE CHILDREN RAPED AND KILLED AND ABUSED.
