BBC Online Safety Webwise Site
The BBC’s Regional documentary strand, Inside Out for the East of England, ran a report in the past ten days about the possible future effects of the content that social network users post online.
The report concentrated mainly on the effects on future careers for adults but the BBC’s Webwise site which was mentioned in the report, has examined wider angles on the issue than just work. Even so, it was interesting to note the interviewer who stated that although they would start by looking at a LinkedIn profile, that this would naturally gravitate to Twitter and Facebook in the end. It was also the first assertion I’d seen on British television that people not using Social Networks might be perceived in the same way as jobseekers lacking mobile phones; behind the times and not making themselves contactable, irrespective of the medium.
The site is here. If the official Share Take Care link ever fails, the direct Webwise link is here.
