“If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with depression, these insights from people who are successfully managing their own depression may help you.”
There are definitely a lot of things that I didn’t understand about depression until I started dealing with it. For example, I really didn’t understand the difference between “feeling down”, which happens to everyone, and true depression, which for me included a complete lack of desire to do anything to take care of myself. I wasn’t worth it. I had managed to live with those feelings for so long that I thought they were normal, and couldn’t really understand how others could just continue going on with those feelings. That, of course, led me straight back to thinking there was something wrong with me, not for being depressed, but not being able to be happy and successful through the bad days that surely everyone had.
