Yes sometimes children are sexually abused by other children, and parents don’t always see other kids as a risk, but we have to be aware. Some of their friends might be in the midst of abuse themselves, and may act out in ways that we don’t really expect from young children.
When I think about this case, I can’t help but wonder of the friend had learned that behavior from his own abuser, but that doesn’t change the harm done to her son. He’s going to need support in dealing with that, and hopefully her story will get more people to consider that, as I’ve said many times, we don’t always know who the abusers are.
