Link – Mental health delays in Leicester ‘lead to suicides’

Can we ever really, truly, know that a delay in treatment led directly to suicide? Probably not, but this kind of delay is going to be extremely difficult for anyone in the midst of a mental health problem, no matter where it is.

“Patients in the city have to wait an average of 135 days for first treatment after being referred.”

That’s over 4 months. Sadly, I don’t believe this is limited to the UK. There is a severe lack of resources, and an overly complex system involved with getting help for mental health problems. We need to find better ways.
