Link – Mental Health First Aid for Suicide Prevention
This seems like a good idea.
Mental Health First Aid was created for the layperson, and I recommend members of the community to take this training – even those without mental health experience. In fact, the training is especially for those without prior mental health experience. This training is an important step to suicide prevention in our communities because it teaches everyday people how to appropriately respond to friends and neighbors who may be feeling suicidal.
I checked the linked site for courses in my area and there aren’t any currently scheduled. So at this point I don’t have the opportunity to take it and provide a review. If you’ve taken it like she has, or this post inspires you to do so, let us know what you thought of it.
It’s high time we all started thinking about what we can do to support the people around us, if a training class can help provide that, I’m all for it.
