Oops
I know I said things were getting back to normal and I’d have more to say, and then I let 5 days go by without saying anything. Shame on me.
One of the things I have been thinking about, relative to this site is the donation I made to Prevent Child Abuse America last year. I didn’t get quite as much out of my affiliate links this year but that’s not going to change the amount I donate, I’ll make up the difference myself. On the other hand I was a little disappointed in that particular organization’s ability to communicate with their members. I’m not saying they don’t do good work, I’m simply going to take some time to look around at some other organizations and consider my options. I’d like a place who’s communications provide some content for this site, something for me to talk about in the area of helping abused children. Perhaps something local would allow the opportunity to see and report on the results of their work? That would work well, I just need to spend some time investigating and making an informed choice. I’ll keep you posted as we go along, and as always suggestions are welcome!
Hello. I’m a Japanese student, 19 years old.
I saw your site and I want to ask you some questions.
If I hurt you by some words in this mail I apologize you and please forget about this mail.
These days in Japan, there are more and more family-related murder cases.
Mother kills her child.
A child kills his family.
I hear such news almost every day !
Why they do such a thing?
I think there are various reasons.
The mother might have been abused in her childhood and have the wounds still now.
Or the mother doesn’t know how to love her child.
There may be reasons in the case which children kill their family.
How about your country?
Or what do you think about these problem?
I don’t want to say “It cannot help their doing such a thing, killing their families”.
What could they do before they kill their family?
What should people around them do?
How can we reduse these sad cases?
Please answer my question.
I want to know your opinion.
Thank you for reading.
Hi Mike,
I too have experienced what you post about here. This year for the holidays I didn’t send any physical gifts, but made donations in honor of my friends instead. A number of the organizations never sent a letter (not even an email) to the person for whom I donated. I had to tell them myself. (For both cases, I was able to check a box on the donation web site saying “please notify….”) This was disheartening and will affect my future choices.
Wishing you well,
Leah
(Btw – thanks for the link in your post a few days ago.)
Leah, you’re welcome, as always. 🙂
Shey, I wish I had an answer for you. If I did I’m sure I’d be working in law enforcement or crime prevention instead of with computers. I simply don’t know if there is one common cause.
I would check with local groups, your money would be far more appreciated to smaller organizations to that of the corporate “labels” that seem to have come out of gaining too much notority.
I wish you good luck!
