Link – You Can’t Save A Mentally Ill Person
This is harsh, but it is also true. On the other hand, I fear that many people are uncomfortable with people in their lives who may be dealing with a mental health issue because they are afraid of doing something wrong, and causing them to get worse. That’s not going to happen. Just like you can’t “save” them by yourself, you can’t “break” them either. Don’t take on that much responsibility. Just be there.
“But you, alone, cannot save a person. Don’t expect that of yourself. Don’t put that pressure on yourself. You are not responsible. And I hate to have to say this, but if the mentally ill person’s life ends in the worst way possible, know that there is nothing more you could have done.
Just love them and be there for them. At the end of the day that is all you can do.”
