Link – How Depression Affects Your Brain

To anyone who’s had depression, you know this too well. For those of you who’ve never dealt with depression yourself and can’t figure out why the people in your life who are dealing with it can’t just see the truth, this:

“No one likes you. There’s something wrong with you. You never do anything right. Depression’s voice isn’t kind, and it can be difficult to separate out depressive thoughts from reality. If you’ve experienced depression, you know it can trick you into thinking things about yourself and your life that aren’t true.”

Ever notice how difficult it is to change someone’s mind about anything, let alone deeply held beliefs about themselves? Now try that when their own brain is telling them differently.

That’s what they are fighting against.
