Another Reminder – To Reduce Suicide Risk for LGBTQ folks Just Accept Who They Are

Earlier this year, I wrote about an interview where someone from the Trevor Project mentioned how much lower the suicide risk is for LGBTQ youth when someone, anyone, in their life just accepts them.

Today, I want to share another bit of news involving gay and bisexual men and suicide:

Gay, bisexual men have a lower suicide risk in more tolerant countries

Gay and bisexual men who move from a country with high stigma toward LGBTQ people to one more accepting of LGBTQ rights experience a significantly lower risk of suicide and depression, according to research published by the American Psychological Association.

So again, we see that simply accepting people for who they are has a pretty large impact on the risk of losing them to suicide. Why would we do anything else, for anyone?
