Obviously, I feel pretty strongly that blogging can be a great way to not only help yourself, but also help others by connecting with others who are dealing with the same thing. This quote though, reminded me of something else:
Imparting skills and knowledge on others is a fantastic way to reaffirm your sense of purpose and make a difference in someone’s life.
What it reminded me of was something I’ve heard many times in the training community that I have worked in for a long time. You don’t really know something until you can explain it to someone else. There’s something about having to explain a subject, or teach someone how to do something that really focuses the mind on the task, and toward understanding all the steps involved and things that can go wrong. Blogging does the same thing. It’s one thing to learn something about depression, it’s quite another to try and explain it. That extra step helps the knowledge become that much more solidified in or brains. Which we need.
