Sharing – 4 Tips for Sharing Your Mental Health Journey on Social Media
I’ve often said that social media is a double-edged sword regarding mental health. For every story about someone being harmed, there’s a story about someone finding a community and realizing they are not alone.
Still, no one should start sharing their story blindly. There are real risks and considerations. The post below lists some of the considerations and some advice from someone who has been sharing their story.
For me, the one tip that too many people don’t pay enough attention to is not to offer “expert” advice if you’re not an expert.
We all have our experiences. We are experts in our experiences with mental health. That’s great, but our experience might not be everyone’s experience. It’s vital to remember that what works for us will not work for everyone we contact on social media, and what works for them might not work for us.
We’re not alone, but we are individuals.
Have you been sharing your journey on social media? How has that been working out for you? Where can others follow you?
