Pat LaFontaine’s sweet dream.

While you’re all so busy bashing Microsoft, I noticed that they are the corporate partner along with ex-NHL player Pat LaFontaine in trying to equip children’s hospitals with high-tech play rooms. I may not agree with everything they do, but you gotta stop and give them credit for this. I hope Pat gets to see his dream come true in as many hospitals as possible! These kids who are dealing with illness and injury deserve it.

Cross-posted on both my blogs: It’s been a long week. I know I’ve been quiet around here, but besides being just a busy week, I’ve been distracted all week by the birth, and subsequent complications, of our new niece. I’m happy to say that she is progressing, and they anticipate her being able to go…

  • The Truth Is, We Aren’t OK and Probably Won’t Be For Awhile

So, what do we do? We can definitely take advantage of the suggestions made by Lindsey Holmes in that HuffPost link above. We can also acknowledge that without available therapists, many of us are going to have to do the best we can for ourselves and each other. We are going to have to muddle through this, and the only way to muddle through is by supporting each other. No, we are not therapists and we shouldn’t really try to be. But, we can be human beings who care enough about other humans to offer support. Whether that be in person, through text or calls, on social media, etc. we can all offer something to each other. We can all share our stories and our struggles because right now there’s simply no excuse for anyone to feel like they are struggling alone.

March Edition of Blog Carnival Against Child Abuse – Have a Good Time!

Wow, that turned unto quite a long title, didn’t it? Anyway, this months edition didn’t see the same number of entries that recent editions have, probably owing to the weather getting a bit nicer and people spending a bit more time away from their computers I’d guess. However, don’t let the number fool you, there…

  • So, How Are You Doing?

But, that’s not what I want to talk about today, because, frankly, I think we’re all talked out on the subject, or at least I feel like I’m all talked out right now. If you don’t realize that anxiety and other mental health issues are sitting heavy on all of us this year, I don’t know that there’s anything I can say that will convince you of it. I want to talk about some good things, because, why not? I want to appreciate the following:

No matter what happens with the election, the sun rose today. It will set tonight, and rise again tomorrow. And I am here to see it.

I am thankful for the many friends and family members we’ve been in touch with in the last few days, even if it’s just to text and say “WTF”?

Laughter, because sometimes there’s nothing else to do but laugh, and it’s good for you.

You are here, reading this. You’re Alive!

Hope, that as long as there is a tomorrow for any of us, there is hope in the fact that things are always changing in the world, and in our lives.

Love. For each other, and ourselves.

    Nature.

The technology that lets us all check in with each other, across the world, at any time.
