Angela and I will be off early in the morning to spend a nice three day weekend exploring Baltimore. It should be fun, seems like there’s some neat stuff to do there, and most of all, it will just be nice to spend some time with my wife! We’ve both been so busy and preoccupied that it’s been a long time since we just enjoyed each others company without any outside distractions. I’m looking forward to catching up on “us” time!

Last night, instead of relaxing and spending a quiet evening watching the latest episode of Ken Burns documentary on America’s National Parks, I sat by the TV with my laptop reading about the people defending Roman Polanski, and getting very angry that anyone would try and defend someone who raped a 13 year old girl….
Pin Even when there are things in the world that I do not have the power to change, I use my own words to remind myself that there are things I CAN do. I can look after the people around me. I can add my voice to support mental health, survivors, and marginalized groups. I can find ways to contribute to making the world a better place in some small ways while also encouraging others to do the same.
This also serves as a great reminder to myself that writing here about these topics is never a waste. I just found some hope by going back and reading what I wrote. Who knows who else might read these words and find a little hope too? That is another small thing I can do that is more useful than wallowing in my anxiety.
