Carnival Topic for Sept.: Inner Child

Should be an interesting topic for this month’s Carnival Against Child Abuse. I have to admit that this topic is one I don’t tend to write much about, as I don’t really know much about being a “child”, even as a kid I acted like an adult most of the time, and I don’t think that was tied to being a survivor at all, it’s just part of my personality. I’m still very much that way. I have my silly moments, and know how to be playful at times, but I don’t really connect that to being childlike.

Anyway, I’ll be interested in reading more about the topic this month. Maybe some of the posts will make me think again about it. 😉

If you want to be included, get over and submit your post. Deadline is tomorrow!

I saw this article today about an amputee softball team, made up of a bunch of folks who were injured during their service, the kind of people we all would typically view as PTSD sufferers, and I really found this part of the article interesting, way above and beyond battlefield trauma: Yet, Schnurr says, there’s…

Those…

    Snake Oil

Over the years of writing this blog, I’ve come to be very accepting of the different ways that survivors heal. What worked for me, may not work for you. We’re individuals, with our own issues tied to the specifics of what happened, and saying that there’s only one way to heal would be foolish. Some…

  • A Recurring Theme

One of the recurring themes I noticed in the holiday edition of the Blog Carnival was in the area of how to deal with the holidays as a survivor. More than one post talked specifically about making new traditions. It’s very easy to regret the Christmas traditions that we either didn’t have, or were not…
