Meeting with others on a regular basis builds strength and resilience in our Mental Health. Friends build each other up to be strong.
Part of the reason that I knew traveling for a living was always going to be a temporary thing was this reality. For five years I had only somewhat regular contact with people. During that time, I came to depend on my wife to be my main support system, and technology to be my backup. It worked for a while, but I know the importance of a support system, of people who keep you connected to the world around you. When you lack that, you are missing one big tool for dealing with depression and other issues.
Unfortunately, it seems like more and more people are lacking it. This article has some good advice on how to correct that. I encourage all of you to take a moment and consider who keeps you connected.
