True self-care is not salt baths and chocolate cake, it is making the choice to not build a life you don’t need to regularly escape from.

Self care is just that, taking care of yourself. That’s not something that you somehow hope to find some time to do, taking care of yourself should be one of the fundamental things we do, and that does mean doing all the tough things for ourselves too.

It is trauma to deal with the possibility that your loved one will not be here anymore because of what their own depression is doing to them. We should take that very seriously, and act accordingly.
