I can’t say that I’ve spent much time on Reddit, mostly because it’s just so overwhelming to me. But, I didn’t realize there were sub-reddits where people are supporting one another.
“Reddit doesn’t have the reputation of being a place where such positive, supportive things happen. But for guys who aren’t used to looking for help IRL, the site has become an unlikely mental health resource. In subs like /r/depression and /r/anxiety (which has 237,000 subscribers), men are connecting—anonymously—with hundreds of thousands of people going through the same thing. Can Reddit replace professional help? Probably not. But it can help you get to the point where you’re comfortable seeking it out.”
Reddit could be just the place tor each guys who are struggling and don’t know where to turn, because it’s pretty much anonymous, and I can see where it would help them feel less alone, and less afraid of getting help.
Have you hung around these subs? Have they helped you, or anyone you know? I’d love to hear about it!
Or if you’re active in those subs, feel free to share anything you read here. if you think it would help. I’ll make a note to check them out.
