It’s not like we didn’t know this would happen. We knew. The industry just didn’t care:
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children said it received over a million reports tied to AI-generated child sexual abuse material in just nine months.

This is why the move to block any rules on AI development is so dangerous. Without limits, the tech companies are free to allow any and all uses of artificial intelligence, and we’ve already seen exactly what happens when you release a tool capable of creating fake CSAM. People will use it to do that, often victimizing all too real children by AI-generated content depicting them sexually.
Too many people stand to make money from AI, and they have become far too powerful. This should not become another situation where children get harmed, and no one pays any price for it. Right now, that is exactly what this is.
