Postman gets 8 years for web grooming and abuse using social network sites

An English postman was jailed for eight and a half years last week for the grooming and abuse of children and teens through Facebook, MSN Messenger and smaller social networking site Bebo.

Michael Williams’s campaign stretched over a five year period and police have numbered the victims as potentially stretching up to 1000, though nearly half of those, whether or not they were identified through hard drive recordings, may not have disclosed to the police at the time of the sentence, which will sadly be halved and the rest suspended. Royal Mail have fired him but the offender also used youth work and sports connections to gain access to young children. He initially denied some offences before admitting hundreds that were Taken Into Account and left on file back in Spring.
