Hey look, here’s a another male victim of childhood sexual abuse, someone many of us are familiar with, who is in the public eye, and who’s father was also sexually abused.
Tell me again how sexual abuse doesn’t happen in your circle, only to other people. If you think that, you’re wrong. It happens everywhere, to all kinds of people. So stop with the stigma.
There are quite a few ideas to consider before you talk to someone you love that I highly encourage you to read. The last thing you want to do is create a situation where they feel judged or stigmatized but it happens more often than it should. (It should never happen, we aren’t even close to that.)
However, there is one thing that I have found really helps whenever someone is talking about their own mental health issues, or feeling embarrassed about considering therapy for themselves and it’s quoted right there in this article:

In the end, here’s the thing. You, and your kids, are not a study. You are all individuals, who may be negatively impacted by social media, or not. You may need to consider not using it, you may need to consider changing up who you’re following to get stuff that is good for your mental health into your feeds, or you may be perfectly fine using it the way you are. It might even be helping you and having a positive impact on your lives.
Only you can truly judge that. If it’s harming you, I hope you’ll consider making changes.
